Transforming lives with behavioral science

"...The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities...."

What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?

ABA is the use of scientifically validated behavioral principles and techniques which are developed and applied to be used in everyday situations with the goal of either increasing or decreasing targeted behaviors.  The application of these techniques and principals bring about positive and meaningful behavior change of social significance.  Behavior refers to our actions and skills, which are affected by environmental influences that may change an individual’s behavior.

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that combines elements of traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. It is a form of mindful psychotherapy that aims to help individuals accept their inner emotions and respond to them in a healthy way, without avoidance or struggle. ACT therapy encourages clients to recognize that these emotions are appropriate responses to certain situations and should not hinder their progress in life. By accepting their hardships and committing to behavioral changes, clients can move forward regardless of their circumstances or feelings.

ACT therapy, also known as ACT, is a branch of clinical behavior analysis and an empirically based psychological intervention. It incorporates acceptance and mindfulness strategies alongside commitment and behavior-change techniques to enhance psychological flexibility. The therapy focuses on staying present in the moment and accepting thoughts and feelings without judgment.

By engaging in ACT therapy, individuals learn to shift their focus from dwelling on negative thoughts and emotions to actively working towards healing and growth. Through collaboration with a licensed professional, clients develop a personalized set of coping mechanisms tailored to their specific situation. These tools can be utilized throughout their lives to navigate challenging experiences effectively.

ACT therapy operates by fostering acceptance of life experiences as they arise, without attempting to alter or evaluate them. This is achieved through mindfulness exercises that cultivate a compassionate relationship with difficult emotions. By cultivating mindfulness, individuals can break free from obsessive negative thinking patterns and attain a state of peace and healing.
